1005: shadow ... great inspiration piece for possible quilting ... fun shapes to piece ... those diamonds could be strip pieced and sashed with black to make the window panes ... some three dimensional draping or pleating could work for the curtain shadows ... and look at all that wonderful black space just waiting for some great contrast thread quilting ... looks like Darth Vadar peering in my night-time window ...

PINSPIRATION 01

0921: sometimes ... I spend way way too much time at Pinterest. I try to limit the time I spend by only looking at or visiting the boards over my morning coffee. I have found the boards a fun way to connect with my daughter and my friends with who I share a common interest. If I can't think of what to fix for dinner I know one quick visit to DeeDee's boards and problem will be solved. She finds and pins the best interesting recipes.

Most of the time I am inspired by all the beautiful work shared by everyone and I wanted to share some of the cool blue and white quilts I've found recently ...

INSPIRATION BOARD 01

0916: strange ... you just never know when something is going to catch your eye. Sharpen your discerning and visual perception; be open to looking at things with new and different eyes; and practice, practice, practice. Oh, AND always have your camera at the ready to capture that thought. You may not be able to sort, categorize, or make sense of at the time but ideas will begin to flow later as you sit with a cuppa and review your day.

I found this cool collection in the metal scrap bin at the back of my friend's auto shop ... saw it after we finished our walk of the morning. What caught my eye ...

• the repetitive shapes
• the juxtaposition of the linear and curved lines
• the balance and mystery of light and dark
• cool textures to work in with free motion quilting
• a color palette that rarely shows up in my quilts ... more likely to see it in my art

... definitely pin this one to the inspiration board ...

STONEHENGE HOLIDAY

 Here it is ... one of the prettiest Christmas collections of fabric I've ever seen. You may be familiear with the Stonehenge line of fabrics from Northcott. It is a stale in their fabrics and they are the most versatile luscious texture laden fabrics I've seen in a long time. Definitely good stuff t have in your stash for just about any quilt project you could think of working on. Lots of colors even across a single piece of yardage. And then when they start playing with the add-ons o the basic line you end up with a pallette of fabric that allows you to paint across your design wall in ways you've never imagined. So you can see why I was so excited to get this box of yardage in the mail from Northcott the other day. These weekend definitely has playtime set aside because look what else was in the box!

I have some definite ideas about how to use the collection to set off these beautiful panels and can hardly wait to get started with the cutting and piecing of the border blocks. Most people are thinking about or even getting started on their Spring gardening this weekend. Not the case here in the Northeast. If it is going to look like Christmas outside on the first of April then I think I'll just go with the flow and work on Christmas!
