Wayne Dyer
SPRING CLEANING! Even though the ground is still frozen and covered with mounds and blankets of snow, there is a lightness in my step as I begin releasing that which no longer serves me. I did some serious excavating-of-my-inner-landscape last fall ... journaling, meditating, and RELEASING, and now it is time to lighten the load even more ... making space. clearing the shelves, letting go. Making space for ... hmmm ... I don't know ... inviting the new, choosing to travel with less, being open to the possibilities.

ALLOWING is about an invitation.
ALLOWING is about giving permission.
ALLOWING is about receiving.
ALLOWING is about trust and possibilities.
Today I am ALLOWING the power of the universe to bless me on my path with the peace I deserve.

Hindsight can be a great teaching tool but it can also a vessel filled with regrets. "If-only's" and "shoulda-coulda-woulda's" can fill our days while getting lost in our rush to the next goal, the next task to cross off the list, the next meal to fix and laundry load to put in the dryer or fold.
But the little moments along the way ... the gems to treasure, the bits and bobs of every-day-life to be harvested along the way ... that's what I treasure the most.
Sure I wish I had started a practice of documenting my days earlier along my path.
Sure I wish I had made time for the conversations with loved ones since passed.
Sure I wish they were here to help me fill in the blanks and tell the stories that go with the pictures.
Hindsight ... sigh.
Today I honor and re-affirm my practice of daily documenting.
I embrace my story as it emerges.
And, I do it for me.

Yes, so true ...
I am a "glass-is-half-full" kinda gal and so from my perspective, life is good. I end most days harvesting many blessings all around, filled with gratitude and a thankful heart.
When this card as I shuffle the deck pops up, I think to myself
... a card to help me remember and treasure past blessings ...
... a card to remind me there are many more to come ...

A favorite card ... I love the days when this one swims to the top. It reminds me ...
I am worthy of dreaming and I am worthy of my dreams.
It is a fine line we walk between being humble and presumptuous, and yet believing in ourselves and the magic of our dreams. Believing enough to want to face the fear of not reaching your goals. Wanting your dreams badly enough to work, and I mean to work really hard for them and still facing the possibility that you might not get exactly what you imagined.
I have many dreams ... wouldn't it be nice if, oh, I wish, and if only ... floating in my head.
BUT as soon as I start dreaming on paper they become more real.
AND I start asking myself:
What would it take to make MY DREAM happen?
What do I have to do? How do I get ready?
... because I know ...
... one day ...
MY DREAM IS GOING TO HAPPEN
maybe sooner than I think
maybe I'll have to keep waiting a little longer
and that's okay
... because I know ...
... one day ...
MY DREAM IS GOING TO HAPPEN

She left me there on the table "to cook," needles placed strategically.
Sometimes I sleep.
Sometimes I close my eyes and enjoy and wonder about the virtual light show playing on the back of my eyelids.
Sometimes I look at the seagull shaped cracks in the ceiling imagining their wild cries as they fly the waves. I hear the sound of my childhood.
Sometimes my mind is wild and chaotic with thoughts ... the to-do list, project ideas, snippets of poems, creating energy running rampant and amok - how will I ever remember all of these great ideas!

Sometimes I meditate ... I feel the healing travel through the crown of my head energy flowing through each of the chakras ... healing energy ... relief ... warmth ... universal energy ... ancient knowledge ...
Sometimes I notice to the sounds outside the window ... chimes on the hour ... children playing in the park ... birds chattering and nattering in their social communities ... the neighborhood ball game ...
AND sometimes I listen ...
AND sometimes I hear ...
AND sometimes I remember ...
... what the angels had to say to me that day.
Have the angels tapped you on the shoulder lately? Have you received a secret message?

Being still can sometimes be (or if we're being truly honest ... I should use the word VERY) difficult for me. I can be sitting as still as a rabbit who thinks no one can really see him, but my mind is racing with ideas a million miles a minute. Many times it takes all I've got to calm my mind to stillness. Needless to say, meditation can be a difficult practice for me on some days. There are strategies I practice to help still my mind:
... mindful deep breathing ...
... closing my eyes to visual stimulus ...
... focusing inward ...
... walking ...
... journaling ...
... sketching and doodling ...
And then there is the aspect of physical stillness. If I've had to be still for too long I'm the world's worst wiggle worm. It is impossible for me to stand or sit still for very long periods of time. I can sometimes distract myself with what ever music or visual might be at hand, but I find I need to be able to change positions; I need to be able to do something with my hands; I need to be able to get up and move.
When this card pops up to the top I think the true message is about the busy-ness trap in which I can easily find myself. It is an easy wall to erect between me and {the world} for any number of reasons. This card is a good reminder to keep life in balance and to continue to build the list of coping strategies for building mindful stillness and purposeful motion.
I'd be interesting in hearing about your thoughts on this idea of stillness vs. motion.

It's all about listening and heeding the message. Critical: the natural curiosity that feeds our passions and keeps our spirits alive. And for me, being careful to not get TOO EXCITED and to be discerning about that which is truly exciting as opposed to that which is interesting.
I like cards that make me think beyond the simple words on the page.
... Engagement ...
... Discernment ...
... Clear-headed ...
... thoughtful mindfulness ...

The best part about working-from-home/being semi-retired is allowing myself a slower start to my morning. I remember the days of hitting the ground at 90 miles per hour. Thankfully those days are in the past and how I TREASURE easing into my morning with a good-morning stretch, a slow cup of coffee, and greeting my day with gratitude.
